I had this card in my mind for months.It was going to be fabulous! Unfortunately,I lost my xmas mojo and had to literally force myself to bring it to reality. It happens sometimes......

big wigs

My niece Krista got a new job in sales and promotions.It's right up her alley.I made her a congratulations card. Why is this picture sideways and how do I change it!#*)#@!Any how......The phrase reads"I guess you think you're some kind of bigwig now!

putz #3

the third house for Harley's village.Inside is a portrait of Santa,a fireplace with Santa coming out of it. The ornaments on top of the mantle are seed beads! the portrait of Santa is a trimmed postage stamp,and the santa is polymer clay.

xmas houses for Harley

My 9 year-old nephew is one creative dude.He has talked about creating a winter village for xmas and this year I have finally gotten around to giving it a try. These tiny houses originated in germany ( I believe) and they are called putz.Yea,you read it right,putz.A terrible name for such a great item.Anyhow,here's house 1 and 2.The white house is 4.5 inches tall(including chimney). The yellow one is 2.75(again,inc. chimney).To give you an idea of scale, the doorknobs are glass seed beads I personally love them,I hope he does too.

first commission

My best friend in texas asked me to make 3 cards for her with the above quote. Scary huh? I've made some real Zingers! Anyhow.here they are....Hope she likes them. I made four cards with various fonts for her to choose from.

40's paper dolls

I just made 3 personalized cards and forgot to photograph any of them! So......I made a "fill in the blank"one.I bought these paper dolls and just had to use them in a card. I sent this to Mary pat,barb,and krista.

A nurse at Aunt Skipper's rehab.center,asked me to make her a wedding card to frame.I showed it to my neighbor and she asked me to make four more!here's the first one.

lost in space

I made this card for ken. As brilliant,compassionate and insightful as he is ,he (and I) are kinda lost in this mediocre world.I wish we both could change our attitudes.I love him immensely and would like nothing more than to see him content and happy(and at peace with himself and the world.

Finally!

I have made maybe 7 or 8 dress form cards and I finally really like one.I copied my vintage patterns(9 to a page),made miniature scissors out of a coke can,skirt is gathered and hemmed vintage fabric,background is actual size pattern covered w/ tissue to mute it,and last but not least a paper tape measure that I stamped and zigzagged the edges!.A few buttons(should have used vintage,but I just couldn't waste them on a card),a little bit of trim and there it is!

3rd time not the charm,nor4,5,6,7or8

Tried my hand at typewriter buttons again,this time using 2 circle punches.I have a stamp that is typewriter type so I punched out individual letters and mounted them on black paper.Then I copied the "button"paper at 4 to a page and used that as a background for my  buttons to spell out: I love you,hello.and happy birthday. I changed each one a little bit,varying the ribbon, placement of typewriter,etc.,but nothing stuck but my brain.

all of them are o.k. I can't seem to make the type buttons work?! I'll try again,I'm sure, since I love the idea so much!

dodging potholes

My sister,barb,is going through a rough patch,so I'm trying to cheer her up a bit with a few cards a week(hopefully). The lippencott magazine covers and Raq's challenge(sketch #3) inspired this card. The colors are a bit more vibrant in reality,ew.......I'm not liking this photo.

Saw this cartoon on the internet. I just had to make a card with it.I'm sending it to Lars and Ken.They're both really funny and have a good sense of humour.

flower power

I've seen several cards lately with crocheted flowers,so I thought I'd learn how to make them.I never realized how long it takes to make one!!!!I'm new at it and very slow,plus it's boring to make,so I decided not to put them on cards to be thrown away,(I know ,I think everyone should cherish my cards,but they don't...lol) So anyway,I wound up killing 2 birds with 1 stone. I made my 3 year-old niece a set of four barrettes and mounted them on a card! I hid the barrette with a separate piece of the same "sky" paper,added leaves,grass and a butterfly and there ya go!

RAQ's challenge

There's a sketch challenge on the cricut community board that I've never participated in.Why? Because I look at the sketches so rigidly and literally that it paralyzes me! I thought I'd take a shot at it today. I wish I knew how to post the sketch......I'll try.

my first custom paper

I made my own patterned paper last night and turned it into a card.I had 5 blanks left over so I made 5 more,' assembly line style'. It still took me 5 hours to make 5 cards!!! P.S.same card-different lighting!

Song Titles

MY labels are longer than my entry,but I knew I wouldn't remember if I didn't enter them.My brother,Ken, gave me a dover cd for my  birthday,(last year) so I thought I better use it since he bought me some more for this year's birthday!!!!yeah,I love them.Any how these are the 3 I made.I think aunt Skipper is going to get the second one (july 28) note to self:dont forget!

I've been wanting to make a sewing related card for a few weeks now,maybe because I bought some stamps I wanted to use!I haven't decided which phrase to use,so I tucked both into the card to decide later.

froggie birthday

My neighbor's(jeanie) birhtday is tomorrow(6/28) and she collects frogs.(or people just keep giving them to her!).Anyhow,I thought I'd make her a frog card.

Got the gig!

I didn't do the formal presentation,I got too anxious to show harley what I had made so far.I wound up making the whole"bikini bottom" neighborhood,plus jelly fish to hang onto helium balloons and a h.b.banner and various signs.I still have to make goody bags and I'm done......I think!

My nephew's birthday is next month and his parents are renting a waterslide for his party.I asked him if I could do "sponge bob" decorations to tie in with the water theme.His reply waas"Well I'd like to see a few first. Whaaaaaaaat? I have to do a presentation that meets with his approval to get the green light?!!!!!So    I'm doing a very professional presentation,addressing him only as "sir"or mr.chattellier,and pulling out all the stops.I think he'll get a kick out of it.Here's what I've cut and glued so far.........

mailed 'em again

Yep.....did it again #*^%#! I mailed joanie,4 beautiful sea creature cards from art nouveau cartridge.I was in a hurry to mail her birthday package and I stuck them in there while the glue was still wet! I'm gonna make them again, 1 of these days ( and even sooner) if she wants more. I also did a bee from that cartridge and had the hardest time choosing a background.I cut out white,brown and black framesand all of them stunk.I then choose a slightly darker blue than the bee was matted on and VOILA! success!

miso not happy

I showed barb my folded kimono card and offered to make her some frameable cards.I wanted to change it up a bit so I attempted to make some different oriental cards.I should have inked all the mattings but of course was in too big of a hurry to assemble so only the outer edge is inked.It just needs something...........

Joann's garbage

Mom,Barb and I went shopping at Joann's crafts on Mother's day.My mom noticed all the flower scraps lying on the floor in that dept.   She said"Maggie,I bet you could make something out of all those flowers,they're just going to sweep them up and throw them away at the end of the day! Well.....Was that a challenge? I immediately start shoving flower bits and loose petals into my jeans pocket!!! Is that stealing? I guess I should've asked.....oops! I had to cut,roll,and improvise to make everything but the 2 largest blooms.What I saved in cost,I spent 3x in labor!!!!It was fun though,turning trash into treasure!

I'm losing it

Ive been making and mailing cards before I photograph them.OOPS!Here are 2 at least that I didn't mail.The car card is for my brother Tom, who owns a 1929? ford.On the inside it says....Not old.....VINTAGE!. The kimono card is leftovers from the card I mailed for joan.I made 3 kimonos before I was finally sorta satisfied.Iwound up liking this one too,after I simplified it.The print is not nearly so fancy as the other ones;I think it is more of an everyday print or a print used by the not so fortunate....peasants perhaps.

b'day card #2

My best friend from texas sent me a card making book and in it was directions on a kimono fold.I had to try it.I always think of barbie when I see a kimono(don't ask me why) so I thought I'd make another card for her and decide which one to send.....later. F.Y.I.....the colors are off in this photo.The pink looking paper is actually a salmon color.Post Script:I wound up sending the card to the girl that sent me the book in the first place! Her birthday is in May also!geeeez.........

more wrapping paper

I don't know what it is with me and wrapping paper,lately,but I bought some more.....Disney's "cars" and "tinkerbell".Of course I had to make tags to go with them.Tinkerbell was a nightmare to make.I wound up cutting eyeballs,irises and pupils by hand and they were no bigger than a pinhead!
